Fertilize citrus trees in Arizona in February, May, and August with the same amount of fertilizer each time. Do not over-fertilize, as this can make fruit less juicy, with thicker peels.  Your fertilizer needs both nitrogen and phosphorous.  Be sure to follow the directions on the fertilizer packaging.  Use gloves while fertilizing, start by the trunk and spread 3-4 feet out from the base of the tree evenly.  Lightly rake to penetrate the top soil.  Be sure to then water the tree in increments of one inch for proper absorbing.
